This is a reminder to check that your personal safety pendant, fall detection system or other personal alarm or medical device is connected to the 4G network. On 28 October 2024 the 3G mobile network was shut down. If you have a medical device or personal alarm on the 3G network, it will no longer work.

According to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), manufacturers and suppliers of 3G-enabled medical devices should have informed you about what you need to do if you have a 3G device.

Suppliers of personal alarms, including LiveLife Personal Mobile Alarms, may have contacted you to upgrade your device to the 4G network.

However, we have received reports from people living with MND that suppliers have had incorrect personal information, phone number, email or address, impacting them from making contact.

We urge you to check your devices are connected to the 4G network.

This article from the TGA has more information including a list of devices that may be affected.

Who to contact?

If you are concerned your device is no longer connected you can contact the supplier directly, or:

  • if you are an NDIS participant, you can contact your NDIS Coordinator of Support or MND Advisor.
  • if you are receiving My Aged Care you can contact your MAC Care Coordinator or your MND Advisor.
