Check your device: Medical devices and personal alarms affected by the 3G Mobile Network Closure
This is a reminder to check that your personal safety pendant, fall detection system or other personal alarm or medical device is connected to the 4G network. On 28 October 2024 the 3G mobile network was shut down. If you have a medical device or personal alarm on the 3G network, it will no longer work.

Terminology and acronyms in the health and disability sectors can be confusing. An example of this is the difference between motor neurone disease (MND), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Lou Gehrig’s Disease. In Australia we generally use the term motor neurone disease or MND, so what’s the difference between MND, ALS and Lou Gehrig’s Disease?
