This nifty little tool is for people who need a little extra support getting in and out of the car. The portable support handle fits into the car's passenger or driver door latch. It provides a supportive handhold and enables leverage for better balance and safter transfer.

The handy bar also has a glass piercing tip which can break the windscreen or window as well as a feature to cut the seatbelt.

  1. Ask your Occupational Therapist (OT) if a handy bar is suitable for you.
  2. Your OT makes the referral on the FlexEquip website
  3. FlexEquip sends you the handy bar.

How much does a handy bar cost to hire?

MND NSW covers the cost of hire, delivery and maintenance of all FlexEquip items for people over the age of 65 and who are living with MND.

The NDIS will fund the hire of a handy bar for anyone with assistive technology funding in their NDIS plan.
